Position Description:


The Plaza has undergone a $400 million renovation that has truly transformed this legendary landmark. The Plaza is now a 5 Diamond Hotel that features 282 spacious, fully renovated luxury hotel rooms along with elegant residences and high-end retail space.

Responsibilities:
•Oversee day to day operations of accounting department
•Develop an engaged, enthusiastic and service driven team of accounting professionals.
•Recruit, develop and motivate the accounting group
•Assist in the preparation of financial operating statements and reports in accordance with Corporate Policy and Procedure and SOX regulations.
•Assist departments in the interpretation, orientation, training and analysis of revenue, payroll and expense matters.
•Represent the accounting office and the Controller in his/her absence.
•Maintain system of accounts and controls, providing accurate data necessary for all required accounting reports and statements.
•Actively involved in ensuring clean internal and external audit reports.
•Prepare and post journal entries, ensuring efficient completion of all month-end functions for review with Controller
•Monitor, supervise and prepare month-end balance sheet account reconciliation and analysis.
•Participate in the creation of the Annual Operating & Capital Budgets, Strategic Plan, and Monthly Operating Forecasts.
•Coordinate and ensure that all daily, semi-monthly and monthly management reports are issued on a timely and accurate basis.
•Assist in the effective utilization and integration of hotel and accounting technology systems, including software applications, current and future.
•Participate in Senior Duty Manager schedule, rotating with other senior managers of the hotel throughout the year.
•Actively contribute to hotel overall leadership and direction.
•Other tasks as assigned

Qualifications
•Professional designation or acceptable university degree with an appropriate specialization in Accounting or enrolled in a recognized accounting program with progression to 4th or 5th level.
•Minimum of 3 years hotel accounting experience and previous accounting experience at a senior level.
•Proven leadership and coaching skills with a track record of developing a highly motivated and cross-trained group of progressive accounting professionals.
•Familiarity with hotel operating systems and software, including ACCPAC, Hyperion, Microsoft Office, Lotus, Genesis Call Accounting, POS, Opera and Delphi.
•Excellent administrative, interpersonal, organizational, written and verbal communication skills.
