Position Description:


Reporting directly to the Director of Catering and Conference Services, the Catering Manager is responsible for booking corporate events and prospecting for future business

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct necessary site inspections, upselling the Hotels’ services and products, customizing and suggesting suitable menus
- Organize and plan all details of client’s event including menus, audio-visual, room layout and other pertinent details.
- Create and distribute consistent banquet event orders and diagrams for appropriate departments
- Work closely with the client and hotel departments throughout the duration of the event ensuring the successful outcome of the client’s program from arrival to departure.
- Maintain high quality of service standards required by the Fairmont Olympic Hotel and Fairmont Hotels & Resorts
- Prospecting for new business
- Other duties and projects as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION:
- Minimum of 2 years in a catering sales position with emphasis on relationships with local corporate customers and proven track record of prospecting
- A strong knowledge of food and beverage a plus
- Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.
- Track record of successful working relationships with other operating departments in the hotel
- Proven ability to plan and organize events effectively with attention to detail
- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks.
- Basic knowledge of OPERA, MICROS, MICROSOFT OUTLOOK, MEETING MATRIX, EXCEL, WORD
- Demonstrated leadership skills and a track record of sound decision-making capabilities.
