We are immensely proud that many consider Fairmont's Green Partnership Program to be the "most comprehensive environmental program in the North American hotel industry," according to National Geographic Traveler.
Fairmont Hotels & Resorts achieved a position of environmental stewardship using Phase I of The Green Partnership Program as our guide. Improvements have been focused in these four operational areas:
Waste Management: Fairmont annually diverts thousands of pounds of glass, aluminium, plastic, newspaper, cardboard, compost and other materials to recycling depots. We also donate used soaps and amenities to local shelters and charities.
Energy Conservation: In an effort to conserve energy and reduce greenhouse gas emissions, all of our hotels and resorts use fluorescent bulbs and water-conserving appliances such as showerheads, toilet dams, and tap aerators.
Purchasing: Fairmont has established corporate purchasing policies for the procurement of, and conversion to, environmentally friendly products.
Water Conservation: In addition to efficient showerheads and tap aerators, Fairmont's optional towel and sheet exchange programs allow our guests to take part in conserving enormous amounts of water, energy, and detergents.
